WELCOME TO THE EAGLES’ NEST PRESCHOOL

It is our great pleasure to welcome you and your child to our preschool program. We hope that this

irst

educational experience will be a positive one that will launch your child on a lifetime of learning. Our

preschool is staffed by great classroom teams who strive to ensure that your child is well cared for and is

learning in an environment that is both enriching and stimulating. We will work to be partners with you in

the education of your child and look forward to mutual collaboration and cooperation.

PHILOSOPHY

Our preschool philosophy is based on two concepts. First, each child is a unique individual and will develop

physically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially at his or her own pace. We see children as competent

learners, capable of engaging with ideas and the world around them. Second, it is our belief that children

learn through play. Play is their work. Additionally, play is the natural mode of learning for the young child.

It is through play and our hands-on approach that we introduce literacy, early mathematics, science,

engineering, and social studies. We believe that it is essential to create an atmosphere of trust and safety

where children will strive to become independent critical thinkers who feel free to explore their

environment with con

idence. Furthermore, we believe that children come to school as competent and

naturally motivated learners. Our responsibility is to ensure that the con

idence and self-esteem of each

child is maintained and strengthened. Our curriculum is customized to meet each child’s individual needs

socially, emotionally, physically, linguistically, and cognitively.

The preschool serves 3 and 4-year-old students in a program designed to help your child grow academically

and socially. We offer full-day classes for each age group at this time. All instructors use the Creative

Curriculum, a curriculum aligned with the state foundations for pre-K classes. Preschool gives students a

solid foundation in the social/emotional skills, physical/motor skills, cognitive/thinking skills, and

language skills needed to enter kindergarten con

idently and successfully.

PARENT INVOLVEMENT

Parents are encouraged to communicate with their child’s teacher as often as needed to raise any concerns,

to contribute to decisions about their child’s goals and plans as well as to share any other information that

may affect the development or well-being of their child. It is expected that parents and teachers will work

collaboratively and in a mutually supportive fashion to ensure that the child is able to take full advantage of

the services offered.

PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION

The mission of the Parent Teacher Organization is to provide opportunities for parents to become involved

in the life of the preschool, to contribute to a positive preschool experience by providing events to support

the developmental learning program, and to support the staff of the preschool as well as the preschool

itself. The Parent Teacher Organization does not have formal authority to govern the center, nor assume any

operational or programmatic oversight. Rather it serves to more effectively support the programs needs,

and activities of the preschool and its staff, to help with fundraising opportunities, improvement of

facilities, and staff development.

4

Parents are invited to become involved in the Parent Teacher Organization. The PTO is always looking for

your help with different of

icer positions, committees, and activities throughout the school year. If you are

interested in more information on joining the PTO group this school year please email them at EaglesNest

PTO email.

The role of the PTO is to help support the school in fundraising efforts, to provide parents with information

about the ins-and-outs of your student's education, and to learn how to be an effective advocate on behalf of

children through local and statewide organizations. The PTO also intends on helping young families

socialize around activities such as the annual winter breakfast, summer family picnic, and many other

festivities that transpire throughout the year.

PTO meetings provide an opportunity to ask questions, get to know other parents, and be supportive of the

efforts the instructors make in the classroom to ensure your child has the richest education possible.

Please see our website for more information.

STATE LICENSING

Eagles’ Nest Preschool is licensed by the State of California through the Department of Children and Family

Services. Annual unannounced inspections of the preschool are conducted by the Department of Child and

Family Services to ensure all state standards, policies, and procedures are met.

CLASS SCHEDULES

Eagles’ Nest Preschool provides quality care and play based education for preschool-aged children from

3 to 5 years of age. The preschool is open from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM each weekday. The daily schedule

consists of large and small group activities, structured group activities, outside play, multiple classroom

learning centers, family-style meals and snacks, and time for rest in the full-day class.

Each day provides enriching opportunities, in and out of the classroom, for social, cognitive, physical, and

emotional development in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment. The curriculum is child centered

and driven by both teacher-planned themes and the interests and needs of the children. Children have

opportunities to talk with and listen to adults, talk and listen to other children, hear stories, listen to music,

exercise, cook, do art activities, and sing. Special projects are planned such as walking “

ield trips” in and

around the preschool, cooking projects, special guests, etc. The primary goal of the program is to help each

child feel secure, to become “school-ready”, to help them learn how to get along in a group, and participate

in the classroom community, while embracing and celebrating their unique individuality, and to develop

their unique talents and abilities.

WHAT ABOUT POTTY ACCIDENTS?

We understand that it is developmentally appropriate for three and four-year-old children to have the

occasional accident, especially during the

grace period before bathroom accidents are documented. After that, each time your child has an accident,
