MUSIC IN THE CLASSICISM

Classicism was an European artistic movement carried out between 1750 and 1820. This

artistic movement wanted to achieve perfection through arts, for that reason artists were

inspired by the classical world (Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome).

Classicism was a brilliant period for music because the forms and structures of

contemporary music and Western culture music are defined. It was the time of sonatas,

symphonies, concerts and string instruments.

In addition, musicians went from being employees of the aristocracy to work as great music

professionals.

CLASSICAL MUSIC VS. POPULAR MUSIC

The expression of classical music appeared at this time and it

had to be in the way of transmitting and learning music. It

went from popular music to educated music.

Popular music was transmitted orally, that is, it was listened to,

learned and imitated.

The educated music was transmitted through a written score.
