WELCOME / ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRELUDE

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: O sing to God a new song;

Sing to God, all the earth.

People: We have come to raise our hands toward heaven.

We are here to bring our worship and praise.

Leader: Great is our God and greatly to be praised.

God is to be revered above all gods.

People: There is no one like our God in heaven or earth.

You keep covenant daily with your servants.

Leader: Let us worship God!

OPENING PRAYER

God of covenant promises and daily fulfillment, we are drawn to this house of worship to

marvel at your works. Here we observe your strength and beauty, not in things made by

human hands but in the spirit of love that abides in this place. The earth trembles before

you, O God. We are nothing without you, but we are staggered by the immensity of who

you are. Let us here glorify your name, so that we may sense the reality of your presence

wherever we go. Abide with us here and everywhere, we pray. Amen

HYMN “God of Grace and God of Glory” (#569) vs. 1 & 2

God of grace and God of glory, on your people pour your power;

crown your ancient Church’s story, bring its bud to glorious flower.

Grant us wisdom, grant us courage

for the facing of this hour, for the facing of this hour.

Lo! the hosts of evil round us scorn your Christ, assail his ways!

Fears and doubts too long have bound us- free our hearts to work and praise.

Grant us wisdom, grant us courage

for the living of these days, for the living of these days

PRAYER OF CONFESSION:

Holy God, are you really here? How is it that we miss your appearing? Surely we have

ignored the meaning and power of the gospels in our attempts to win human approval. We

have passed on to others not our faith but our confusion. We have tried to find truth apart

from you, but mere information does not satisfy. We repent of our arrogance and seek

your forgiveness. Come to us now with cleansing power, we pray. Amen

On-line Worship Service

A warm and cordial welcome is extended to all who worship with us. We hope in this service

you will encounter the living Christ and experience the warmth of our caring family of faith. If

you are visiting with us and in search of a church home, we invite you to become a part of our

church family here at North Presbyterian Church. Please let us know of your interest by way

of friendship register or by speaking to Pastor Scott. We would be honored to welcome you

as a part of this growing church.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

SCRIPTURE READING: Romans 7: 14-25

Luke 15: 1-7

SERMON “Outrageous Grace”

HYMN “Grace Alone” (#436)

Every promise we can make, every prayer and step of faith;

Every difference we will make Is only by His grace.

Every mountain we will climb, every ray of hope we shine;

Every blessing left behind is only by His grace.

Refrain:

Grace alone which God supplies; strength unknown He will provide.

Christ in us, our cornerstone, we will go forth in grace alone.

Every soul we long to reach, every heart we hope to teach;

Everywhere we share His peace is only by His grace.

Every loving word we say, every tear we wipe away;

Every sorrow turned to praise is only by His grace. (Refrain)

SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

Invitation, Prayer, Words of Institution, Prayer of Consecration

THE LORD’S PRAYER: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom

come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and

forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver

us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen

BLESSING

HYMN: “GOD LOVE YOU”

God love you and not let you out of His sight.
