CTC STUDENT SERVICES PLAN
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Charlotte Technical College is to provide an effective, innovative, technical education,
preparing ALL students to enter, advance, and succeed in the workplace.

programs of the institution to include the following:

2. To assure that the institution provides placement services for all program completers and
conducts follow-up studies of completers and employers of completers.

PURPOSE OF THE PLAN
The purpose of this plan is to outline the activities and responsibilities of the student
services staff and to identify the staff included as part of this plan
To outline how we evaluate the effectiveness of student services personnel annually
To indicate how annual evaluation results are disseminated to staff
To show how those results are used to improve the services provided

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Aid Counselor:
Implements district, state, and federal regulations and procedures related to Title IV funds
and VA benefits
Communicates closely with state and federal DOE and/other financial institutions
regarding reports and/or financial aid issues
Compiles, prepares, and submits all state and federal reports and audits
Determines student eligibility for federal Pell Grant
Reports critical issues related to Title IV funding to the school director
Maintains federal approvals and certifications for the institute’s administration of the Pell
Grant
Develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures manual for Pell Grant
administration
Determines student eligibility for state grant and community scholarship
Counsels students/parents in matters pertaining to financial aid
Authorizes the disbursement of funds for federal, state, and district scholarships and
grants
Works with student services in developing criteria for awarding financial aid and
approving students for community scholarships
Maintains student satisfactory academic progress criteria
Develops and distributes financial aid marketing and student consumer information
documents
Attends financial aid training and workshops
Performs electronic processing and other clerical duties required for financial aid
administration
Develops and maintains student files and records in accordance with state, federal, and
district regulations
Post-Secondary Career Specialist:
Maintains and makes available to students, data for educational and career planning
Assists students in preparing application forms and completing all documentation for
enrollment
Monitors and maintains Completions, Placements, and Licensure data
Provides occupational information to prospective post-secondary students and other
interested persons
Assists in locating and obtaining educational assistance from various agencies such as
Vocational Rehabilitation, Social Security, service organizations, etc.
Assists in recruiting students for vocational programs
Conducts program department tours
Assists in student orientation
Disseminates information on how students remediate for TABE/CASAS and obtain a
GED
Maintains an active involvement with the college advisory committee
