Teacher’s Report

Ms. Bokoske

• Signups for conferences coming soon.

• Question: Any fieldtrips this year? Scoping a few fieldtrips but PPS buses are

not available through the district so have to rent a coach bus which is very

expensive. Fieldtrips can happen, just a little more complicated to schedule.

Walking fieldtrips may happen after conferences and holidays. 4th grade

Oregon Trail fieldtrip will likely not happen.

• Question: How is Play Works going? Started a few weeks ago, coach Alex met

with each class twice to teach them a game and practice it. Found ways to

include all students, even ones who didn’t want to participate at first. Offered at

each recess and lots of participation. Games are very inclusive and accessible.

“Rock it out” – rock paper scissors to resolve issues or make a decision. Jr.

coaches are available daily to help facilitate activities and solve problems.

Principal’s Report

Principal Galloway

• First site council meeting was successful. Brainstorming about how to get more

families involved.

• “FIT” assessment completed at school to assess academics, social, how supporting

kids, counsellors, special ed, all areas of school, report back will come soon but early

feedback is positive in passing.

• Superintendent came to Maplewood last week for unplanned visit, was impressed,

loved murals and what he saw in the classrooms, structures, systems for supporting

socially and academically.

• Robin Roemer applied for grant to make crosswalk in front of school safer, lots of

great conversation about how to make commute to school safer. PDOT has matched

the grant to further beautify the school.

• Trudy Ludwig visit to school, spoke to students during school and families after

school. Attendance was a little low, brainstorming how to reach out to our broader

community.
